Taking a "Dental Vacation"
Is Dental Tourism really a good deal?
Maybe.
by Bob Sharpe
It's a growing trend.
Many Americans are considering traveling to other countries for
dental work. It is possible to save 50% or even 75% or more by
taking a dental vacation in Mexico or some other foreign
country. But is it a good idea?
Many Americans do not realize this, but
they can join AmeriPlan(r) for pennies a day and save 50% to
80% almost every time they go the dentist - right here in the
U.S.A.
You can get a good dentist or a bad
dentist anywhere. There are some good reasons to have your
dental work done here in the U.S., however:
1. U.S. dentists are some of the most
highly regulated dentists in the world. They are regulated as
to their education, their office procedures, the sanitation of
their equipment, and the qualifications of their employees.
Dentists in many countries are permitted to operate with much
lower standards - particularly in the countries where dental
work is cheaper.
Also, you don't have to travel to an unknown location to see an
unknown dentist in order to see substantial dental
savings. AmeriPlan®
members often save 50% or more on the cost of
dental care. The best thing is that AmeriPlan® membership only
costs 50¢ a day for individuals and 67¢ a day for entire
households.
2. Local dentists don't have to try to
cram a month's worth of treatments into 1 or 2 days. On a
so-called dental vacation you have a very short time in which
to get a lot of work done.
3. Local dentists know they need
satisfied local patients or they're out of business. They are
accountable to their patients and their communities. Foreign
dentists who specialize in dental tourism have no such
accountability to motivate them to take good care of their
patients.
4. That local accountability makes it
easier for you to check out a local dentist than it is to check
out a dentist in Mexico, Thailand or India.
5. If there's a problem, it's easy to
go back to a local dentist to get it remedied.
6. If you are a victim of malpractice
in a foreign country, you're stuck, and the dentists there know
that you can't do much about it. They know they can get away
with cheaper materials and shoddier work. Have you ever tried
to sue a foreign dentist in a foreign court? They have rights.
You don't. Even in Canada.
7. U.S. dentists carry expensive
malpractice insurance to protect you in case you have major
problems with their work.
8. Not only that, do you really want to
spend your vacation sitting around a dentist's office -
especially since you can save 50% or more here with an
inexpensive AmeriPlan(r) membership?
Don't settle for the cheapest dental
work you can find. Do you drive the cheapest car on the road?
Or eat the cheapest food? Or wear the cheapest clothes? Your
AmeriPlan(r) membership will allow you to get good dental care
with deeply discounted fees. Without the cost of a plane
ticket.
If you are not happy with your Dental Plan, or
if you don't have one, AmeriPlan® from
DentalPlanPro.com can help you slash
your dental costs dramatically. It's only
50¢ a day
for individuals and 67¢ a
day for an entire household.
